Recording
Video with camera and microphone or audio only, formats, pause and what ends up in the picture.
Video or audio only
On the right of the studio bar you pick Video + audio or Audio only. The red button starts. One click while recording pauses it, a second one resumes (the key “Pause / resume recording” does the same). The first time, TalkPatch asks where to save.
- Video: MOV from the selected camera and the selected microphone, no prompter text, no menus. Mirroring and dimming change the preview only.
- Audio only: WAV or MP3 from the selected microphone, even with the camera switched off.
While recording, a red frame blinks at the window edge. When paused it turns a calm orange and RECORDING PAUSED sits at the top in bold. Devices are locked until the recording is finished, and quitting the app waits until the file is fully written.
Formats
In the gear next to the record button (recording format & bitrate):
| Codec | Settings |
|---|---|
| H.264 | target bitrate automatic or manual (1 to 500 Mbit/s), keyframe interval |
| HEVC | same as H.264 |
| ProRes Proxy / LT / 422 / HQ / 4444 | profile quality |
Resolution: automatic, 720p, 1080p or 4K. If the camera can’t deliver it, TalkPatch says so. Audio: AAC (64 to 256 kbit/s) or PCM 16 bit, 44.1 or 48 kHz, mono or stereo. All settings are stored locally.
After the recording
“Show in Finder” opens the finished file. TalkPatch changes nothing and uploads nothing. The file is yours.
